WSET® certificates belong to the international standard in retail and the HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant & Catering).
Wine and Spirit education Trust have been the standard in Wine education in the English speaking world for 40 years. However in recent years, WSET has developed strongly, especially outside of the borders of Great Britain. Plansel and Willmy Matton will offer you this profoundly wine education in several languages, the courses will be held in Quinta da Plansel, Alentejo Portugal.

Course Contents

A beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a wine career or pursuing an interest in wine.
The following topics will be taught in the 1-day course "WSET Level1 Award in Wines":

- Current wine world
- The main types and styles of wine
- Common wine grapes and their characteristics
- The principles of food and wine pairing (with practical exercises)
- How to store and serve wine
- Create simple tasting notes
This is followed by an exam with 30 multiple-choice questions.

Each participant receives a workbook and after passing the exam the certificate from London.

Entry Requirements

There is no access restriction for this course. You must have reached the minimum age for drinking alcohol in order to participate in the tasting of alcoholic beverages. However, this is no obstacle to obtaining the qualification.

Course Contents

A beginner to intermediate level qualification exploring wines and spirits for those working in the industry or wine and spirit enthusiasts. For individuals seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You'll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided.

The following topics will be taught in the 3-day course "WSET Level 2 – Wine and Spirits":

- How wine is made
- What factors influence wine style
- The key white and red grape varieties and their characteristics
- The important wine-producing regions of the world
- The production of sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines
- Label terminology
- Food and wine pairing principles
- The principal categories of spirits and liqueurs, and how they are made
- Create simple tasting notes

This is followed by an exam with 50 multiple-choice questions, which takes place directly after the seminar on the last day of the course. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Each participant will receive a workbook, a "Study Guide" + sample exam questions and, upon passing the exam, the WSET® certificate from London.

Your Information

The seminar fees will be due no later than 10 days after invoicing. Cancellations are possible without charge until 3 weeks before the start of the seminar. Cancellations made within 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the seminar require payment of 50% of the total amount. Plansel Wine School reserves the right to cancel the seminar if there are fewer than 8 mandatory registrations. In such case, fees already paid will be refunded.
